"The Bald Conductor"
I was born in Germany and have lived in the UK for around nine years, now based in Stoke-on-Trent. I play trumpet, flugelhorn and cornet, and I teach music. I'm largely self-taught, supported by private lessons along the way, and I've played with ensembles in Germany and with The Central Band of the Royal British Legion Scotland. Closer to home, I play with Penkhull Village Brass.
My focus now is conducting. I love the moment a room of individual players turns into one orchestra, and I want more people to feel that moment, whatever their level.
I also write music. My orchestral piece D-Day tells a story from training in England through the Channel crossing to liberation.
What I believe
- Everyone plays better when the room feels welcoming.
- Rehearsals should be demanding and fun.
- Amateur players deserve proper repertoire.
